| Baptism |
For Catholics, the Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Whether we are baptized as infants or adults, Baptism is the Church's way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God.
Those wishing to have a child Baptized at the National Shrine must be members of the parish. One parent must be a Confirmed Roman Catholic. One of the godparents (one male, one female) must also be a Confirmed Roman Catholic. To sign up for a baptismal class (required for baptism--usually held on the first Wednesday of the month), please contact Charlene Lewandowski in the Parish Office at 248.541.4122 ext 410.
Baptismal Record Request Form All requests for Baptismal records must be done in writing with this form and may only be requested by the parent or individual. NO certificates are issued for genealogical purposes. All records that are open to research are available at the Burton Historical Collection at the main branch of the Detroit Public Library

| Reconciliation (Penance) |
| The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as the Sacrament of Penance, or Penance and Reconciliation) has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration. In it we find God's unconditional forgiveness, and as a result we are called to forgive others. |
| Reconciliation at the National Shrine is offered after all 6:30 am weekday Masses; Saturdays 3-4 pm and 5:30-6 pm

| Communion (Holy Eucharist) |
| Catholics believe the Eucharist, or Communion, is both a sacrifice and a meal. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. As we receive Christ's Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.

| Confirmation |
| Confirmation is a Catholic sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. Like Baptism and Eucharist, it is a Sacrament of Initiation for Catholics and a Sacrament of faith in God's fidelity to us.

| Marriage |
| For Catholics, the Sacrament of Marriage, or Holy Matrimony, is a public sign that one gives oneself totally to this other person. It is also a public statement about God: the loving union of husband and wife speaks of family values and also God's values.
Those wishing to be married at the National Shrine of the Little Flower must be a registered parishioner for at least six months. If you, your fiancé or either of your parents are not currently members, there is a six-month waiting period from the day of your registration before you can meet with one of the priests to start your marriage preparation process. The marriage preparation process typically takes six months to complete, but could take longer if there are any impediments that have to be addressed before a Catholic marriage can take place. The priest who is conducting the marriage preparation with you will schedule the church for the wedding date. Dates can not be held in advance of the start of the marriage preparation process by the priest.
If you meet the registration requirements, you need to schedule an appointment with the priest of your choice to start the marriage preparation process.
